The Windsor chair began as a garden chair in England, circa 1725. Virtually every period American chair maker produced them, and a number of design variations have evolved over time. The only true American design of the Windsor chair is the continuous arm, first developed in the state of New York. Our Windsor chairs are reproductions of the New England and New York styles.

Dungan-Tingley Chair Works offers five of those styles: bowback, sack back, continuous arm, fan back and comb back. Our most popular color is black, however all our chairs are available stained or, for an upcharge, painted with milk paint.
