Dining Tables

Hand-made, Antique Reproduction Tables

Dungan-Tingley Chair Works offers six hand-made dining tables: Porringer, Harvest, Farm, Tavern, Ohio and Pub. They are all made from select tiger maple and cherry. We chose those wood types for their beauty and durability to ensure that you receive a long lasting, quality product that your family or business will enjoy for years to come.

We offer various table and leg styles as well as extensions so you may select the table that best fits your needs. We can give you recommendations on styles and colors to fit the décor of your restaurant, bed & breakfast or fine private residence.

Our tables can be extended using a traditional extension called a company board. A company board is a 14 inch extension added to both ends of a dining table so that you can accommodate guests. Adding company boards does not compromise the original one-piece table design. (The Ohio Round table cannot be extended.)

In the 18th century, a “board” was often referred to as a wood surface such as a dining table, hence the terms “cupboard” and “side board”, still used today. The term “company board” isn't used as much these days by the general public, but is still common among fine wood craftsmen.

The standard sizes and prices are the same for the Porringer, Harvest, Farm and Tavern dining tables.

Porringer Tables

Hospitality Furniture

Porringer tables are so named because the rounded corners resemble the colonial porringer dish. The rounded detail is carved and scraped by hand. Most of our customers request a stained top with a black painted base. The legs on the stained bases are made of maple, although tiger maple legs are also available. The photo shows a 36 x 72 stained porringer table with a Dutch leg.

The Tavern table is the term used here in America for plain country-made rectangular tables with turned legs and extra support at both ends and a "stretcher" in between , based on designs mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries. The traditional tavern table has a stretcher base, forming an "H" beneath the table as shown in the photos.

Standard sizes are:
  • 36" x 72" = $1400
  • 38" x 72" = $1600
  • 40" x 72" = $1800
14" company boards are available.

Ohio Round

Hospitality Furniture

The photo shows a 48" Ohio round table made of tiger maple with a painted base and recommended Dutch leg. Standard round tables are also available. Please note that no company boards are available with the round tables.
Our Ohio round tables are available in 44" ($1200) and 48" ($1400) diameters.

Pub Table

Hospitality Furniture

Pub, or bar tables, are increasing in popularity because they can provide a smaller, more intimate dining area. Their typical height is 42”, accommodating a 30” bar stool. A 32” square table will seat two people comfortably for light meals or snacks.
Our pub tables are made to order. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
